Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sharpingknives (sole trader: Mario Gabriele Sabbatini, Italy) handles information collected through the sharpingknives.com website and the iOS applications published under the Sharpingknives name (the "Apps").
Sharpingknives is a one-person indie studio. The guiding principle is simple: collect as little personal data as possible, store it for as little time as possible, and never sell it.
1. Who is the data controller
The data controller is Mario Gabriele Sabbatini, operating under the trade name "Sharpingknives", based in Italy. For any privacy-related request, please write to mariogabriele02.sabbatini@gmail.com.
2. The website (sharpingknives.com)
The website you are currently reading is a static HTML page. It does not use cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or analytics scripts. No personal data is collected when you load it. Standard server access logs may be retained by the hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) for short-term security and operational purposes.
3. The Apps
Each Sharpingknives App ships with its own detailed privacy disclosure inside the App Store listing, under the "App Privacy" section. The summary below applies in general; the App-specific listing is authoritative if there is any conflict.
3.1 Data collected directly
- Account & identifiers. Most Apps work without an account. Where sign-in is offered (e.g. Sign in with Apple), only the minimum identifier and, optionally, the email address you choose to share are retained.
- User-generated content. Content you create inside an App (e.g. saved recipes in Toque, workout history in MinimalFit, resumes drafted in Hyre, alarms in Reveille) is stored either locally on your device or in a secured cloud database tied to your account, depending on the App.
- Purchase data. In-App purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. Sharpingknives receives anonymised aggregate transaction data, not your payment details.
3.2 Data collected automatically
- Diagnostics & crash reports. The Apps may collect crash logs and basic performance diagnostics to help find and fix bugs. This is opt-in at the OS level via the standard iOS "Share with App Developers" toggle.
- Product analytics. Some Apps record anonymous usage events (e.g. "user opened the Workouts screen") to understand which features are used. These events do not include personal identifiers and cannot be linked to your device or identity.
4. Third-party processors
To operate the Apps and the studio, Sharpingknives relies on a small number of well-known service providers, all GDPR-compliant:
- Apple Inc. — App Store distribution, payments, Sign in with Apple, CloudKit/iCloud.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — Static website hosting (sharpingknives.com).
- Firebase / Google Cloud (EU regions where available) — Authentication and database for selected Apps.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — Subscription receipt validation and entitlement management.
- OpenAI / Anthropic — AI features within selected Apps; only the specific content you submit to that feature is processed, on a no-retention basis where contractually available.
No personal data is sold, rented, or used for third-party advertising.
5. Legal basis (GDPR)
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation 2016/679), Sharpingknives processes personal data on the following bases: (a) contractual necessity, to provide the App features you request; (b) legitimate interest, for security, anti-fraud, and product improvement; and (c) consent, where explicitly requested (e.g. optional analytics or marketing email).
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, export, restrict, object to, or delete the personal data Sharpingknives holds about you. You can also lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
To exercise any right, write to mariogabriele02.sabbatini@gmail.com. Requests are answered within 30 days at the latest.
7. Retention
Personal data is retained only as long as needed to provide the service or to comply with legal obligations (e.g. accounting records under Italian tax law). When you delete your account or an App, your associated personal data is removed from active systems within 30 days, except for backups which expire on their normal rotation.
8. Children
Sharpingknives Apps are not directed at children under 13 and Sharpingknives does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Parents who believe their child has provided personal data should contact us to have it removed.
9. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Apps or the website after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
